You can also have a blueprint book in your hot bar that you draw from. Your blueprint library is just a persistent blueprint book anyways. You can export them, save them as a text file somewhere on your computer and import them when you need them again. Just test the import before you delete them in your game.

Hi, last time I played Factorio was version 0.17 and I simply had the option to import blueprints on my action bar (specifically wanted to import some mining and smelting blueprints).
The description say its good for Early to Mid game, but you can easily continue using the designs in the late/end game if you just upgrade to assembler 3, blue belts, stack inserters and put in a bunch of modules. In the end-game, a beaconed approach with modules will save more space/resources, but that would require a full redesign.

The only thing it won't sync (and you also didn't mention) is the Blueprint library. You need to manually transfer it and it's pretty inconvenient.
